WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FLOURISH AND FLOURISH JUNIOR?
The main difference between flourish and flourish Junior is the taste, because each product is brewed using a different food source for the probiotics.
flourish is brewed with 100% organic non-GMO sugarcane molasses and flourish Junior is brewed with non-GMO sweet Sorghum, which has a milder, sweet apple cider vinegar taste. Anyone at any age can take either version!
*flourish includes natural trace minerals to foster the growth of the good bacterial strains.
The ingredients of flourish are purified water (reverse osmosis), the probiotic mother culture, and 100% sugarcane molasses (which is organic, non-GMO, non-glyphosate).
The ingredients of flourish Junior are purified water (reverse osmosis), the probiotic mother culture, and 100% sweet sorghum.
flourish and flourish Junior contain 11 probiotic strains from five different genera:
HOW MANY COLONY FORMING UNITS (CFUs) DO YOU GUARANTEE IN FLOURISH AND FLOURISH JUNIOR?

DO FLOURISH OR FLOURISH JUNIOR HAVE TO BE REFRIGERATED?
No. Refrigeration is recommended, BUT not required. Cooler temperatures slow the metabolism of the bacteria. Do not freeze. Do not expose to excess heat (>140) or direct sunlight for extended periods of time.
DOES THE PRODUCT EXPIRE?
flourish and flourish Junior do not expire. The date on the sticker on the bottom of each bottle is the ‘Best if used by’ date, when flourish and flourish Junior will be most potent. Beyond this date, the potency (measured by colony forming units [CFUs]) will decrease. Additionally, all the good bacterial byproducts are present after that date.
ARE FLOURISH AND FLOURISH JUNIOR VEGAN FRIENDLY?
Yes, flourish and flourish Junior are both vegan friendly.

IS CONSUMPTION OF MY PROBIOTIC SAFE IF THE PRODUCT IS PRESSURIZED OR SHOWS SIGNS OF SLIGHT LEAKING WHEN IT ARRIVED IN MY SHIPMENT?
In short, yes, the product is safe for use.
Shipping and handling of our living product can result in pressurized bottles, and sometimes, even a slight leakage. This is a sign that our probiotic species are alive and kicking in their natural environment, where they are most comfortable.
The product has not been compromised, but rather the bacterial species are just living their normal life cycle. Again, this is a sign that we produce the most natural, alive, and ready to work in your gut probiotics! With the possible buildup of pressure, we do recommend opening the bottle slowly before use.

Therefore, we will replace product when extreme damage occurred during transit.
You must send pictures of your damaged product and container to [email protected] to begin the bottle replacement process. Make sure to capture the liquid level and sticker on the bottom of the bottle.
WHAT ARE PROBIOTICS?
Probiotics are live microorganisms that serve the purpose of balancing the gut microbiome and improving digestion to support overall health in the body.
Learn more about the microbiome in our blog.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LIQUID AND CAPSULE PROBIOTICS?
The difference between liquid and capsule probiotics is the production process.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TAKE FLOURISH?
flourish and flourish Junior can safely and effectively be consumed at any time of day. For optimal use, flourish and flourish Junior are best taken on an empty stomach when stomach acid is lower (higher pH). However, our product can also be taken with food or after a meal.
WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO STORE FLOURISH?
For increased longevity, flourish and flourish Junior are best stored in the refrigerator. Storing in the refrigerator helps tame the natural flavor as well as slow down the metabolic rate of the bacteria.
For travel purposes or convenience of daily dosing, a bottle can be kept at room temperature for up to four weeks.
The bacteria cells are affected by temperature extremes. Do not expose to temperatures above 140 degrees and do not freeze.
WHY IS MY BOTTLE ROUNDED? WHY DOES MY BOTTLE SOMETIMES FIZZ WHEN I OPEN IT?
The beneficial bacteria in flourish and flourish Junior are in their most natural state with their food source, even after they’ve been bottled. As thriving probiotics, they continue to live and metabolize which releases carbon dioxide and nitrogen, which in turn pressurizes a closed bottle. When opened, the pressure is released causing the liquid to bubble and fizz.
If your bottle feels like it is under a lot of pressure when you receive it, place it in the fridge for a few hours and slowly open and close as needed.
ARE PROBIOTICS SAFE FOR CHILDREN?
Yes. flourish and flourish Junior have been safely used in many children of various ages.
As with any supplement or medication, check with your healthcare practitioner before use if there are underlying or unusual health conditions.
HOW SOON CAN I EXPECT RESULTS?
Some clients have seen immediate results within a few days. Others have reported maximum benefit after a few weeks. It mostly depends on the health of one’s gut when starting, if there is an active, ongoing, or previous gut ailment, current or past antibiotic use, and a person’s nutritional habits. Many testimonials have been retrospective in nature, in that they look back over time and say, “I don’t get sick near as often” or “I feel better and more energetic.”
It is recommended that probiotic supplements should be taken regularly for at least three months to achieve the most extensive whole health benefits. Consistency is key!
WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?
In designing the recipe and formulation, we were very intentional in not only what is put in, but what is left out. Therefore, there are no artificial flavors, no artificial colors, no artificial sweeteners, and no preservatives added to our probiotic liquid.
The result is a purely natural product that maintains the rich flavor of molasses or sweet Sorghum, but with an acidic overtone from the lactic acid naturally produced by the bacteria.
Many clients mix their daily dose of flourish or flourish Junior with a small amount of fruit juice. While it is recommended to take on an empty stomach for optimal performance of the probiotics, mixing with small amounts of another beverage is perfectly fine too.
WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS?
One may experience mild gas, mild bloating, increased bowel frequency, change in stool consistency, or temporary diarrhea. These are natural consequences in the process of good bacteria taking habitat, restoring balance to the microbiota, improving digestion, and competing with bad bacteria. Many healthcare practitioners agree that temporary loose stools are actually a good indicator of the probiotics working and the bad bacteria exiting the body.
However, if prolonged diarrhea (lasting more than a few days) occurs, stop taking flourish and consult with a healthcare practitioner.
It is also important to stay well hydrated and drink plenty of water during these periods of detoxification and bowel habit changes.
HOW DOES FLOURISH COMPARE TO KOMBUCHA?
Kombucha is more of a casual, leisure drink. Many people sip on a bottle of kombucha instead of coffee, tea, or Diet Coke as a “daily/habitual” beverage. Most popular brands of kombucha are labeled to contain 2 – 6 billion organisms in one 16 oz bottle, compared to the minimum of 8 billion organisms in one Tbsp of flourish/flourish Junior. One would have to drink four to five entire 16 oz bottles to get the same volume of probiotics that you would get from one Tablespoon of flourish. And at 6-9 grams of sugar per serving, that adds up quickly!
flourish is concentrated volume of bacteria to be used as a supplement rather than a leisurely sipping drink. Another significant difference between flourish and kombucha is diversity of strains. flourish contains eleven different strains of beneficial probiotics from five different genera: Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Enterococcus, Bacillus, and Saccharomyces, whereas most kombuchas typically contain 2-4 strains. Also, the SCOBY or “mother culture” for kombucha most likely has different strains of bacteria than that of our product; therefore, adding diversity to our gut biome.
Could you do both? Absolutely. It is really hard, and quite frankly rare, to overdose on good gut bacteria.
HOW DOES FLOURISH COMPARE TO YOGURT?
Similar to kombucha, one would have to consume large servings of yogurt to get comparable levels of the good gut bacteria (One Tbsp of flourish is equal to the probiotic count in about 10 Cups of yogurt!) Most yogurt products are not plain or unflavored; they have been loaded with added sugar or artificial sweeteners. Research is showing that simple refined sugars actually “feed” the bad gut bacteria and that artificial sweeteners are harmful to good gut bacteria. It is also important to note that most yogurts contain only Lactobacillus strains, not the diversity of strains contained within flourish and flourish Junior.
DO MY EATING HABITS AFFECT PROBIOTICS?
Absolutely. Sugar and simple refined starches “feed” the bad gut bacteria, making it more difficult for the good gut bacteria to get a foothold and take up residence.
New research is also suggesting that wheat, more specifically the proteins of gluten and gliadin contained within, has harmful effects on both the good gut bacteria and the intestinal wall lining. Other studies indicate that wheat contributes to the growth of bad bacteria.
One can begin to feed the good guys by reducing or eliminating sugar, simple refined starches, and wheat, and replacing them with vegetables, seeds, and fruits such as: psyllium seed husks, ground flax, chia seeds, prunes, berries, tree nuts, legumes, cabbages, onions, mushrooms, non-starchy greens, and colorful root vegetables.
DOES FLOURISH INTERACT WITH MY PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS?
Humans were designed to have good bacteria living in the gut. Generations of cultures across the world have safely consumed fermented foods (containing multitudes of beneficial bacteria) along with various medications. That being said, clients should consult a healthcare practitioner if they are concomitantly using any prescription medication. Because good gut bacteria can improve digestion, some medications may be altered by such improved digestion. For example, improved/increased gut bacteria can alter the digestion and uptake of carbohydrates, which can in turn have a beneficial impact on blood sugar, which over time may change the required amount of medication. Probiotics can safely be used in diabetics, but close monitoring of blood sugars for the first few weeks is recommended. We also recommend taking flourish at separate times from diabetic meds; for instance, take diabetic meds at breakfast and evening meal while taking flourish at noon or bedtime.
Since probiotics contain live microorganisms, taking them at the same time as an antibiotic can kill a large number of the organisms, reducing the efficacy of the Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium species. Ideally, probiotics will be taken a minimum of 2 hours apart from antibiotics. Similarly, Saccharomyces might interact with antifungals, reducing the efficacy of this probiotic. Probiotics should also be used cautiously in those taking immunosuppressants, such as cyclosporine, tacrolimus, azathioprine, and chemotherapeutic agents, since some probiotics could cause an infection or pathogenic colonization in immunocompromised people. Consult a healthcare practitioner if there are questions.
DOES FLOURISH SURVIVE THE STOMACH ACID?
Using the old-world, traditional fermentation style allows the bacteria to regulate the pH in their environment. Lactobacilli are named as such because they produce lactic acid, which lowers the pH. During the fermentation process, we do not chemically alter the pH as some other commercial processes do. Therefore, the consortium is allowed to reach its desired pH, which ranges from 3.2-3.5. The human stomach fluctuates between pH 1.5-3.5 depending on physiologic state, fasted or fed.
An empty stomach has an approximate pH of 3.5. As such, flourish probiotics can survive quite well in the empty stomach because that is the environment in which they were grown. The strains included in flourish and flourish Junior are known to be hearty, resilient survivors of the stomach environment. Also, several of our bacterial strains are spores’ formers, which allow them to pass unscathed through the stomach and reach the intestines where they are active.
IS FLOURISH THIRD PARTY TESTED?
Yes, we utilize independent, third-party testing laboratories to test for both good bacteria and bad bacteria. These labs ensure that we have a minimum colony forming units of the beneficial bacteria and confirm the absence of harmful bacteria.
WHAT IS THE HISTAMINE CONTENT IN FLOURISH?
Our formulations are tested by a third-party independent lab for histamine levels and have reported as undetectable. Several reasons for this could be substrates used, bacterial species present (low histamine producers), and if any histamine were present, some of the other microbes could consume it. So even though our formulations include a Saccharomyces species, it does not induce a histamine level.
CAN I TAKE AN ANTIBIOTIC AND FLOURISH AT THE SAME TIME?
Yes, we recommend taking flourish while on an antibiotic to replace the good bacteria that is being damaged by the antibiotic. The probiotics will not hinder an antibiotic at all (they are made to kill both good and bad bacteria!), but antibiotics are definitely harmful to probiotics.
Dosing recommendation: Space the antibiotic and probiotic accordingly so they are not in the stomach at the same time. For instance, if an antibiotic is just once daily in the morning, take flourish in the evening. If the antibiotic is twice daily (breakfast and supper), flourish can be taken at lunch and/or bedtime.
ARE FLOURISH AND FLOURISH JUNIOR SAFE TO TAKE DURING PREGNANCY?
It is best to consult with your healthcare professional prior to taking any supplements. However, it is generally accepted that probiotics like flourish and flourish Junior are safe during pregnancy.
Taking flourish or flourish Junior during pregnancy may help ease some of the discomfort associated, such as constipation, heartburn, and fatigue.
Research has shown that a probiotic supplement during pregnancy helps to establish a good range of healthy bacteria in the baby’s developing digestive tract!

ARE PROBIOTICS RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN BORN VIA CESAREAN SECTION?
Yes. Research is showing that probiotics are especially important in children born via Cesarean section. The most important thing to ever happen to your microbiome happens the moment you are born.
Babies born vaginally get their first major dose of microbes from their mothers as they pass through the birth canal. These beneficial bacteria include Lactobacillus, which helps breakdown the lactose in milk to make energy. More Lactobacilli colonize the mother’s vagina as her due date nears, ready to jump ship to her baby, helping to digest breast milk.
Babies delivered via C-section surgery get their first dose of microbes from their mother’s skin and the skin of doctors and nurses in the delivery room.
HOW DO I CLAIM A FREE PRODUCT USING A PROMO CODE?
DO YOU OFFER SAMPLES?
We do not offer samples. However, the 30 Day Challenge is available to new clients.
IS FLOURISH JUNIOR SAFE FOR MY BABY UNDER THE AGE OF 1?
It is generally considered safe for infants to use probiotics.
Suggested use for those under 12 months old: 0-3 months use 0.25 ml daily; 3-6 months use 0.5 ml daily; 6-9 months use 0.75 ml daily; 9-12 months use 1 ml daily. These are suggested starting doses. Doses can be adjusted for tolerability and outcomes. We recommend using a properly calibrated oral dosing syringe to correctly measure smaller doses.
When first taking a probiotic, your baby’s gut microbiome adjusts. Your baby may experience minor bloating, gas, or intestinal gurgling, which should subside with continued use. Consult your healthcare provider if symptoms continue after two weeks.
PRECAUTION: Keep out of reach of children. Inform a healthcare professional before starting any dietary supplement, particularly if there is a known immune-compromised condition. If your child develops an allergic reaction, such as rash, itching, wheezing, or hives, discontinue use and call your doctor.
